Breathable Interior Paints for Period Homes
Old houses and period properties need paint that works with the building, not against it. Lime plaster walls and solid masonry must be able to breathe — trapping moisture behind an impermeable modern emulsion leads to damp, peeling, and damage to original fabric.
Our range of breathable interior paints is specifically chosen for compatibility with lime plaster and traditional substrates, giving you a beautiful finish that protects your home for the long term. Looking for exterior breathable paints? We’ll be adding those to our range soon.
Our Range
- Limewash — a classic, soft matte finish made from slaked lime. Ideal for lime plaster and stone.
- Distemper — a traditional chalk-based paint with a chalky, period-appropriate finish. Highly breathable.
- Mineral Paints (Silicate) — the most practical option in our breathable range. Applies like a modern paint, with good coverage and a washable finish once cured — without compromising on breathability.
- Clay Paints — natural, humidity-regulating paints ideal for sensitive historic interiors.
