Farrow & Ball 2.5L Flat Eggshell Purbeck Stone No.275

Purbeck Stone takes its name and colour from the Isle of Purbeck, near Farrow & Ball's home on the south coast of England. Part of the Easy Neutrals group, it's not too warm and not too cool, making it incredibly easy to pair with many shades from the Farrow & Ball palette, but particularly with Cornforth White, Wevet or Ammonite.

2.5 Litres of Purbeck Stone No.275 in Farrow & Ball Flat Eggshell, the brand's low-sheen, super-tough finish for interior wood, metal and concrete. At 20% sheen it is their flattest interior eggshell, giving skirting boards, door frames, stairs and kitchen cabinets a soft, classic glow. Scrubbable, stain resistant and scuff resistant, it is even tough enough for floors, and the long-lasting formula won't yellow over time.

Where to use: interior wood, metal and concrete, including skirting boards, door frames, windowsills, stairs, furniture, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, floors and hot-water radiators with a surface temperature of up to 60°C (not steam-filled radiators). Not suitable for exterior decking or pressure-treated wood, floors with frequent vehicle movement, calcium sulphate, anhydrite or hemi-hydrate screeds, or basements and buildings without a functioning damp-proof course and membrane.

Preparation: prime with the right Farrow & Ball primer first: Wood Primer & Undercoat for interior woodwork, Metal Primer & Undercoat for metal, and Masonry & Plaster Stabilising Primer for interior concrete floors and unsound masonry. Cast iron needs a specialist primer. With underfloor heating, switch it off for 48 hours before painting and for 48 hours afterwards. Paint between 10°C and 30°C.

Coverage and drying: up to 12m² per litre per coat, so this 2.5 litre tin covers up to 30m² per coat. Two coats are recommended (darker or stronger colours may need more). Dry in 2 hours and recoat after 4 hours; allow longer in cool or humid conditions, and note that some darker colours take up to 14 days to reach full hardness.
