2.5 Litres of Pitch Black No.256 in Farrow & Ball Dead Flat, the brand's most matt finish, now with added toughness. With a sheen level of just 2%, even when viewed from a wide angle, it gives deep, rich colour, and because it is multi-surface you can use it across walls, woodwork and metal, including radiators, for a seamless whole-room look. It is washable, wipeable and scuff resistant, so it suits kitchens, bathrooms and busy spaces such as hallways, living rooms and playrooms.

Where to use: interior walls and ceilings, woodwork (not floors) and metal, including hot-water radiators with a surface temperature of up to 60°C (not steam-filled radiators). Especially suited to kitchens, bathrooms and busy areas of the home.

Preparation: apply the matching Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat before your top coats: Wall & Ceiling for plaster, Wood for woodwork and Metal for metal. New, bare plaster can instead take a mist coat of Dead Flat diluted with 25% water. Cast iron needs a specialist primer. Paint between 10°C and 30°C.

Coverage and drying: up to 12m² per litre per coat, so this 2.5 litre tin covers up to 30m² per coat. Two coats are recommended (darker or stronger colours may need more). Dry in 2 hours; always allow the full 4 hours before recoating, as the matt finish looks dry sooner than it is. Some darker colours take up to 14 days to reach full hardness, and drying takes longer in cool or humid conditions.
