Owatrol CIP Rust-Inhibiting Penetrating Primer for Overcoating with Any Paint
CIP (Corrosive Inhibiting Primer) is a primer that prevents rust. It can be finished with both single and two-pack paints and finishes. It has Owatrol Oil's anti-corrosive qualities, which allow it to stabilise the surface. In order to build a firm, stable coating, it penetrates the substrate deeply, forcing out extra moisture and air.
CIP is simple to use and doesn't need to be shot or sandblasted first. It works well on both horizontal and vertical surfaces, can be used on new and corroded surfaces, and can be used inside or outside.
Even when high solvent paints and finishes are used on it (such as urethane, epoxy, chlorinated rubber, synthetic, etc.), it won't disintegrate or degrade. This makes it ideal for use as a primer for two-pack paints. The brick-red colouring also offers improved film-forming and protective properties.
Sand or shot-blasted surfaces with Owatrol's CIP don't need to be immediately primed because a thin layer of rust won't impair the process' effectiveness or the end result.
CIP's improved corrosion protection, robust surface, and great chemical resistance make it ideal for use in harsh climates including the sea environment and tropical regions. Due to its outstanding adherence, it also operates remarkably well on clean, bright steel, which is generally a challenging surface to coat.
