Rust-Oleum 7500 Alkythane Ready-Mixed Metal Paint

Ready-mixed Rust-Oleum 7500 Alkythane, available from stock colours: Jet Black, Pure White, Transparent and Metallic Aluminium.

Alkythane is Rust-Oleum Industrial's urethane-modified alkyd topcoat for protecting metal. It combines excellent opacity and flow with extra durability from its polyurethane addition, and it continues to dry in cold conditions.

Performance

• Single-pack, urethane-modified alkyd anti-corrosion topcoat
• Excellent opacity and corrosion protection
• Polyurethane addition for extra durability
• Dries at low temperatures – apply from 5°C
• Touch dry 2 hours, handle 8 hours, recoat 16 hours, fully cured 7 days (20°C)
• Theoretical coverage 10.5 m²/litre at 50 µm dry (95 µm wet); maximum 80 µm dry per coat
• Heat resistant to 90°C dry heat (discolouration may occur at higher temperatures)
• Salt spray: system 769/1060/7500 480 h (ISO 9227)

Application

• Apply to metal, or over Rust-Oleum primers 769, 569, 1060 or 3202. For steel structures in a C4 environment, use with 769 and 1060 or 1080.
• Air, surface and paint 5–35°C, humidity below 85%, surface 3°C above dew point. Stir well.
• Brush (natural bristle) or 4–6 mm mohair roller: thin up to 10% with Thinner 633; rolling may need 2 coats.
• Airless: up to 20% Thinner 641, tip 0.009–0.013", 150–200 bar. Air-atomised: 10–30% Thinner 641.
• Clean up with Thinner 160 or mineral spirits.

Metallic Aluminium

Supplied in a 4.375 litre tin. To avoid an uneven appearance with aluminium-coloured coatings, Rust-Oleum recommends spraying 7511 with HVLP equipment.
