About Rust-Oleum 7500 Alkythane

Alkythane 7500 is a high-build, single-pack topcoat from Rust-Oleum Industrial for protecting metal against corrosion. Its urethane-modified alkyd formula keeps drying even in cold conditions, and Rust-Oleum states it gives the same protection in fewer coats than other alkyd systems.

• Theoretical coverage 10.5 m²/litre at 50 µm dry film (95 µm wet)
• Brush, roller, airless or air-atomised spray
• Heat resistant to 90°C dry heat (discolouration may occur at higher temperatures)

Where to use it

Apply to metal surfaces, or over Rust-Oleum primers 769, 569, 1060 or 3202. On properly primed or previously coated surfaces, Alkythane 7500 provides corrosion protection in a light industrial environment. For metal structures in a C4 environment, Rust-Oleum recommends using it in a system with 769 and 1060 or 1080 primers.

Application notes

• Stir thoroughly before use.
• Air, surface and paint temperature 5–35°C, relative humidity below 85%, and the surface at least 3°C above dew point.
• Brush or roller: thin up to 10% with Rust-Oleum Thinner 633; use natural-bristle brushes or 4–6 mm short-nap mohair rollers (rolling may need 2 coats to reach the recommended film).
• Spray: thin with Rust-Oleum Thinner 641 (up to 20% airless, 10–30% air-atomised).
• Maximum 80 µm dry film per coat.
• Clean equipment with Rust-Oleum Thinner 160 or mineral spirits.
• VOC 392 g/l. Read the safety data sheet and can label before use.
