Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield MAXX 5300 is a water-based, two-pack epoxy floor coating for garages, workshops and industrial floors. It gives maximum durability in a hard-wearing gloss finish, and each 5 litre tin is a complete kit of base and activator.

Key features

  • For medium to heavy foot and vehicle traffic
  • Excellent wear, impact and abrasion resistance, and the best possible resistance to car tyres
  • Highly resistant to solvents and chemicals
  • Easy to apply by roller, with no primer needed on sound concrete
  • Water-based and low odour (VOC 53 g/l); tools clean up with warm soapy water
  • Optional non-slip finish with EpoxyShield Anti-Slip Additive (200.0.7), or a decorative finish with EpoxyShield Decorative Flakes (505.0.43)

Colours

  • Light Grey (RAL 7035), item 5381.5
  • Silver Grey (RAL 7001), item 5382.5

Where to use it

On concrete floors that are completely clean and dry, and over old coatings that are still well adhered. Don't use it on smooth or dense concrete, on concrete containing a curing compound, on sealed concrete, on floors with rising moisture, or on levelling mortar or anhydrite screeds.

Technical details

  • Mixing ratio base : activator 3 : 1 by volume (kit supplied matched). Pour A into B, stir for at least 3 minutes, and let it stand before use
  • Pot life 1 to 2 hours depending on temperature (about 1½ hours at 21°C)
  • Light foot traffic after 16 hours, normal foot traffic and heavy items after 24 hours, vehicles after 7 days (20°C)
  • Coverage approx. 7 m² per litre (about 35 m² per 5 litre kit); often 1 coat is enough
  • Apply at 15 to 35°C air temperature with humidity below 80%; the floor must be at least 13°C
  • Solids by volume 63.6%; density 1.27 g/cm³
  • Shelf life at least 5 years unopened

Preparation

Repair holes and cracks with EpoxyShield concrete repair products. Remove loose paint by sanding and scraping. Scrub off oil and grease with a degreaser, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and let the floor dry completely. If dust or powder comes off on your fingers, rinse and scrub again. Rust-Oleum recommends two people for application: one cutting in the edges and one rolling the floor.
