Mathys Durbocem is a solvent-based coating based on plasticised acrylic resins, for inside and outside use, that renews walls damaged by water and protects new walls against damp damage.

Key features

  • Builds a strong bond with damp substrates
  • Contains cement, making it particularly suited to damp walls
  • Bonds well to cement-based substrates
  • Can be applied on chalking substrates
  • Can be recoated with Paracem once the substrate is dry
  • Matt white finish

Where to use it

Painting damp walls and cellars. Note: Durbocem does not stop saltpetre efflorescence and does not resist underground water pressure, so it should not be considered a waterproofing product. Ensure excellent ventilation during application and for the first weeks afterwards in enclosed spaces such as cellars.

Technical details

  • First coat: work well into the substrate with a semi-hard brush (walls in poor condition need saturating); second coat by brush after 24 hours
  • Total consumption 1.5–3 m²/litre for 2 coats
  • Touch dry and handle 2 hours; recoat and fully cured 24 hours (20°C)
  • Semi-hard brush or mohair roller, undiluted; spray not recommended
  • Apply above 5°C, humidity below 80%, in a well-ventilated area
  • VOC 500 g/l; clean up with white spirit

Preparation

Wire-brush chalking surfaces. Seal water-infiltration leaks with a special quick-setting cement applied by hawk or trowel, and let it harden.
